Zipper Merge & Yield
A couple of pet peeves this morning!
With the 417 in the state that it is wouldn’t it be nice if we all learnt how to do the zipper merge as illustrated above.
Another problem is not knowing the difference with merge and yield. Up to not so long ago the westbound on-ramp to the 417 on Mann Avenue had a merge with the traffic on Nicholas Avenue, but recently they’ve narrowed it, and it now has a yield (to traffic on Nicholas). It’s a tricky ramp as you can’t easily see the cars on Nicholas, so you must slow down to see, and of course, stop if there are cars. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had cars behind me honking. Really! I like this post on reddit.com!
