Teal Pumpkin Project
Children with food allergies still want to dress up and have fun on Halloween. A teal coloured pumpkin on your front porch will tell them you’ve got alternatives to Halloween candy. Nice! Read more about it in this article from the Citizen.

Nuns’ Walk Official Opening
Was a lovely event yesterday. The grand opening of the Nuns’ Walk behind the QWest condos on Richmond Road. Nuns’ Walk is a public park which contains the former convent of the Sisters of the Visitation. In attendance were among others the Mayor Jim Watson, David Choo president of Ashcroft Homes, Roderick Lahey of RLA Architecture, Jeff Leiper Ottawa city councillor for Kitchissippi Ward, Paul Rothwell, Director of Planning and Development with Ashcroft and David Jeanes President of Heritage Ottawa. The convent main house would be extreme. I’d love to have a tour of the convent house. From people who have seen it, it is quite remarkable. Built in 1880 many of its original features remain. In 1919 an extension was built to accommodate what was to become a convent for 45 nuns who with the aid of their garden were mostly self sufficient.

Barn Swallow Condos
Rode by the temporary barn swallow homes on Riverside yesterday. So far no one has taken occupancy. Perhaps it needs better signage (like the Deer Crossing signs). Read more in the Citizen.
