Musical Instrument Lending Library Program – Ottawa

Sarah McLachlan was on hand earlier this week to launch the Musical Instrument Lending Library Program at the Ottawa Public Library. This program is made possible by a $140,000 donation by Sun Life Financial – Thanks Sun Life

The goal is to help remove the financial barrier in the learning of a musical instrument. Go borrow an instrument and discover your inner musician.


Rideau Canal – Contaminated Sediment

Well this is not great news. A contaminated UNESCO World Heritage Ste! That doesn’t sound very good. I do hope they can remedy the situation.

What I have seen done to correct soil contamination is digging until no contaminated soil is found. And around the site of oil tank it costs a fortune so imagine this. And how long would it take. Sigh!


Annual Rainfall Record

It’s a two post day! It just had to be. First Halloween! Happy Halloween once again! Then had to post this while it’s still newsworthy. To no one’s surprise Ottawa has broken a rainfall record with a total accumulation of 1,213 millimetres of rain in 2017. 39 millimetres more than the 1,174 record dating back to 1972. And we still have a couple of months to go. Here’s hoping 2018 is not as wet!
