Nine-Storey Apartment Building / Sandy Hill
A new apartment building is being proposed for Sandy Hill on Robinson. Not very tall but for that small area it will change the landscape. The area in question is in Sandy Hill is south Mann Avenue. On the map it looks like the southern end of Sandy Hill but driving there is the odest thing to me. Was it the 417 ramp that broke it away from the neighbourhood?
Cannabis Stores Now Open in Ottawa
We now have 3 pot stores open in Ottawa. You can now visit your prefered location and discuss your needs/wants with a cannista (new word for me). I do hope none of my neighbours favour the Super Skunk strain. Someone in my building did for a period of time and oh the smell in the hallway.
Elgin Street / Carlingwood
Allow me a double subject post today. The first subject is Elgin Street. In case you got used to chaos as it was more of Elgin Street got closed today. Below a map showing the new road closures which took effect totay. Click here for further details.
Also in the news, at the other end of town, is the demolition of Sears at Carlingwood Mall. And with it goes a part of my childhood! I remember going there with my parents as a child. I remember the window displays before they were boarded up. Of course we had the Sears catalogue in our home and so looked forward to the Holiday catalogue filled with gift ideas which I would enthusiastically dog-ear oh so many pages. I shall hold onto the memories and forget the building.

Sparks Street Makeover
The City of Ottawa is proposing a makeover for Sparks Street. The proposal includes trees and wifi, plus, in the near future, maybe, Sparks Street will be accessible by two LRT stations. I do hope this proposall is a good one; not just on paper but actually welcome by the public.
Public feedback on the city’s plan can be given until May 1 by email, at mysparksstreet@ottawa.ca. This proposed plan is not set to start before the Spring of 2022.
