Yasir Naqvi has created a task force to look at ways to revitalize the downtown core subsequent to the pandemic. I first found details of this in an article by the Ottawa Business Journal; that article interviews a few of the task force’s members. Canada’s largest Canadian Tire store opens in Ottawa

Funeral – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Alas tomorrow is Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral a Westminster Abbey. The funeral of a queen whose reign lasted 70 years. A woman who quietly advanced women’s place in the workplace.

You can watch the funeral starting at 5am Monday morning on cable. The full schedule can be found here. If you don’t have cable you can stream on YouTube.

Here in Ottawa there will be a procession after the funeral. A service will be held for dignitaries at Christ Church Cathedral. Details here. There will be some road closures downtown. Details here.

Ottawa Valley real estate sales continue year-long slump

CityNewsEverywhere presents the statistics for the Ottawa Valley. Extracted from their blog post is the 5 year average selling price in comparison to sales in 2022.

Cobden has increased from $240,000 to $477,000.
Pembroke has increased from $234,000 to $354,000.
Petawawa has increased from $355,000 to $544,000.
Deep River has increased from $230,000 to $413,000.
Eganville/Bonnechere Valley has increased from $274,000 to $514,000.
Greater Madawaska and the Calabogie area have seen housing increase from the five-year average of $421,000 to $863,000.
