Officially spring started yesterday! It is warmer today than it has been. But there’s snow in the forecast now and then in the next few days. I suggest as much as possible we disregard the reality and focus on: officially spring started yesterday….

This is just not good! A young whale died of dehydration and starvation with 88 pounds of plastic in its stomach. We really must do better!

Remember that tonight, at 2 a.m., precisely, your clocks need to be fast-forwarded an hour (some will do it automatically some will need your help – know the difference) for the start of daylight savings time. And so, Sunday the sun will rise earlier but set later which means that you’ll have more time to collect insects, play your round of golf, or just hang out and enjoy the light later in the evening.

The IPCC – Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has released a report with a rather dire prediction, for as early as 2030, if the world does not make changes on its levels of greenhouse gas emissions. The report states that pledges made in the Paris agreement are insufficient. Drastic steps are now required, but alas, not expected.

It’s not a bad idea though perhaps it takes a moment or two to get used to. Think of the options and are they really better. This way your body turns into a tree. I like that part!

One time use straws are not environmentally sound. Sign this petition to have Starbucks design their staws with something less harmful for the environment.

I rather like the pasta straw idea. No taste lasts long enough for you to have a drink but not 100 years.

Alternatively, refuse straws! Yes sometimes they are necessary but a lot of the time they are not.
