Windmill plans new group home, residential towers near former site of Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre

Windmill proposes to replace a 40-year-old residence for adults with physical disabilities with a new building, and add 2 towers to the site at 2475 Regina Street in Lincoln Fields. The proposed towers will be 19 storeys and 25 storeys. The mix of rental vs condo has yet to be determined. Details here on an Ottawa Business Journal post.

Ottawa Buskerfest Brings Fire Shows and High Flying Performances to Sparks Street This August Long Weekend

It’s the Ottawa Busker Festival this week-end on Sparks Street. There will be clowns, jugglers, acrobats, magic tricks, and more. Most of the performances are free, thought it says donations are appreciated. The Ottawa Marriott Hotel plays host to a couple of paid shows. NCC unveils new segregated pathways on LeBreton Flats

The new pathway at the LeBreton Flats features designated pedestrian and cyclist lanes. Great idea! The only problem I see with this is the inconsistency of bicycle lanes in the city, making cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers wonder: what type of lane I am in now? Who has priority and where?

Theberge plans 3-tower Ottawa residential redevelopment

A three-tower development is being proposed for the corner of Baseline Road and Fisher Avenue. Two of the towers would be 25 storeys with one 29 storey building. Details on Renx.ca – Real Estate News Exchange.

Ottawa Senators win bid for downtown arena on LeBreton Flats

After years of failed attempts, an agreement has been reached between Capital Sports Development Inc and the National Capital Commission to build an arena at LeBreton Flats. Above and beyond the arena, the project will include a mixed residential development. Flats District will include up to 800 housing units comprised of six storey units, a 12 storey tower, and a 20 storey tower. Little Free Library

The city of Ottawa is exploring options with regards the little free libraries. Earlier this month Wendy Chaytor a resident of Stittsville received an official complaint from the city telling her she had to relocate her library 4.3 meters back from the road. Of course the libraries should not be in the way, and create an obstruction but 4.3 meters back in my mind is quite the distance would be less inviting. Hopefully, the city will come up with an acceptable to everyone solution.

Doing research I find there’s an app for that: Little Free Library! An app to help you find the closest little free library. I just tried it out! I see it missing one I know of, but it points to others in the area.

And if you’re looking for ideas Pinterest has a page dedicated to Tiny Lawn Libraries. Just don’t get yourself in trouble with the neighbours or the city!
