The ice sculptures at Confederation Park are amazing! Such detail! Only -1c today I hope the weather stays below freezing to preserve these beautiful, ephemeral, sculptures a little while longer.

The Client’s Note…

One of the members of the Ottawa Celtic Supporters Club, is in Palliative Care. His wife will be facing significant costs in the coming weeks.

In an effort to help; the Ottawa Celtic Supporters Club is raffling a rather unique bottle of Scotch in an effort to raise funds.

The bottle in question is a Kilchoman, Single Cask Release. Only 290 bottles of this particular Scotch were produced. This bottle is #113 of 290. These bottles were sold only in the Kichoman Distillery shop on Islay, Scotland.

So it is quite unique, and would make a great collector’s item. If you love Scotch, you’ll love this. If someone you love loves Scotch it would make a great gift.

And even if Scotch isn’t your thing, buying a ticket will help a family in what is the worst of times.
Tickets are $10 each – Draw is February 18, 2018

NCC and RendezVous Agreement in Principle for Development of LeBreton Flats

Lead by Mark Kristmanson CEO of the NCC it would appear RendezVous, a consortium headed by John Ruddy of the Trinity Development Group and Eugene Malnyk owner of the Ottawa Senators have reached an agreement in principle for the development of LeBreton Flats.

This is a great parcel of land! It will ultimately have quite a different feel. At the moment it feels close to downtown, oh so close, and yet more often than not when we take clients there they wonder where are we? With this plan, given a few years, that question will not be asked.

One more year of negotiating. Construction to start in 2019 and 2020

O’Connor Street to Close until March

O’Connor Street between Laurier Avenue West and Somerset Street West will be closing for repair work Monday January 22 until Friday March 2. The bike lane however will remain open.

Rideau Canal Skateway

Good news the Rideau Canal Skateway is open! Bad news it’s -24c with a windchill of -37c. That is probably not healthy! Or certainly, it is dangerous. I’d say enjoy, but I don’t want to encourage you placing yourself in a dangerous situation. So what to say. If you have really warm clothes go have fun. Otherwise, Sunday looks better. But Monday is going above freezing. And so the skating season begins. Sigh!

Winterlude – Ottawa

Sharpen your skates and start planning your activities! Winterlude is coming February 2 to 19. As usual there will be a lot to do. The good news weatherwise is after mother nature broke us in with a week of -26ish anything above that feels balmy. Well you know!

Full Moon – Wolf Moon

Tonight’s full moon called the wolf moon will be the brightest of 2018. In Ottawa, you’ll have to stay up until midnight to see it as that is the time the weather forecast says the snowing will stop and we’ll have a partly clear sky.

Ottawa’s Best Christmas Light Displays

With the major holidays behind us you now hopefully have a moment or two to breathe. So… go out for an evening drive and enjoy the light display offered across Ottawa.

Let`s report back to see which was the favourite. I did see a display on Maitland near Clyde on the East side. There’s a lot! It’s great – problem is at such an intersection you can’t really stop long enough to take it all in.

Sock it to Christmas

Molly & I helped Peggy Blair sort out socks received from the Sock it to Chrismas initiate yesterday. Then we delivered 7 large bags of socks to the Shepherds of Good Hope.
