Architectural Digest recently posted about Dumfries House. This reminded me that a few years ago I saw a documentary video of Prince Charles’ efforts to preserve and restore Dumfries House. Must say that although not previously a great fan of Charles, after seeing this video I had a different opinion. It’s 46 minutes so you’ll need to get a coffee (or a martini according to the time of day).

Dumfries House is a Palladian country house. The house was built in 1750. It contains much of its original furniture designed by Thomas Chippendale. Prince Charles took on the restoration of the home, a great, and expensive project.

Sverre Fehn was a Norwegian architect. He was born in Fuskerud, Norway in 1924. He died in Oslo in 2009. He studied at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Fehn is considered one of Norway’s most gifted architects; he was a modernist. He was the recipient of the Pritzker prize in 1997.
