Starchitect – Josef Hoffmann
Joseph Hoffmann was born in 1870 in Austria-Hungary. He died in 1956 in Vienna. He was an Austrian architect and designer. He was one of the founders of the Vienna Secession which was an art movement closely related to Art Nouveau. Members of that group also included Koloman Moser, Otto Wagner, and Gustav Klimt. Together they founded the Wiener Wekstätte, pioneers of modern design which influenced the Bauhaus and Art Deco styles. He studied at the Higher School of Arts and Crafts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

As you know I have a weakness for great chairs. Seeing Hoffman’s designs does nothing for my heart rate, and my desire to add to my collection. I’m going to need a bigger flat!
