National Arts Centre to undergo major $110 million renovation
So often when it is decided to expand or modernize a building, in my mind, it can be a fiasco: but not in this case I think! The NAC being a child of the 60s is at that age where respect of its design can be tentative (old enough to be dated but not old enough to have really acquired heritage status). That being said, I think everyone agrees is it an exceptional building. Except for one thing – it’s backside is on Elgin street! Some of you may remember that the Elgin Street side was more interesting when there was a book-store. But quasi condemned windows aren’t that interesting. And so…
