Former Lester B. Pearson Home – Sandy Hill
The former home of Lester B. Pearson in Sandy Hill is making headlines once more. François Bregha, a member of the Planning and Heritage Committee of Action Sandy Hill provides an update. I had not followed the story in the last year (already). But it now does seem the city has approved the Ugangan’s request to remolish this building and replace it with a purpose built one.
I for one find shocking that a foreign goverment can allow a building in a foreign country`s heritage zone to go to waste and then demand that it be demolished. Have said this before but still scratching my head imagining what the reaction of the government of France would be if we did that in Paris. My lack of understanding is perhaps what expains that I was a diplomatic spouse but not a diplomat. But then again!
I’ve already posted on this subject twice First in February 2018 Demolition by Neglect Sandy Hill Heritage Conservation District
Lester B. Pearson’s 1950s Home then April 2018 Built Heritage Sub-Committee Denies Permission to Demolish Lester B. Pearson’s 1950s Home.
