Architecture – Chateaux in France
Les Châteaux de la Loire
Chateaux of the Loire Valley
Royal Châteaux
This week let us turn our attention to chateaux in France. The Loire Valley more specifically. In order to qualify or to be called a Château de la Loire it must either be on the river or one of its tributaries. The Châteaux are divided into 3 groups. Royal Châteaux. Châteaux belonging to nobility and the others. This week we’ll look at the Royal Châteaux. Many years ago in my twenties I did do a Château de la Loire tour. I very much enjoyed it!
From an architectural point of view in comparison to the German Castles I would say these are generally shorter and more sprawling. Also more symmetry.
