Château Laurier – STOP This Proposed Addition
I know, I know, I’ve addressed this topic once, twice, perhaps five times, or more. BUT seems like now, finally, officials are waking up and realizing that this hideous addition will not only destroy a local landmark but a national treasure. Nothing like waking up at the eleventh hour, no, not the eleventh hour, I think it’s a bit past midnight, but well hopefully better late then never. Why did it take close to three years for these individuals to speak up?
And so I’ve put off Part III of the Vanderbilt residences to next week to put together various points of view with regards the proposed addition to the Château Laurier.
Below a collection of reactions which have made a lot of virtual ink flow. Should you be included write the Mayor, your city representative, member of parliament, or whoever but make yourself heard.

D Marsh says
Cannot understand why Larco Investments and the City Council of Ottawa can be allowed to deface and alter a Historic Heritage site. I can understand the company wanting to add additional rooms but the design should be similar to the original design. By adding a ultra modern addition I believe the building has lost that historic heritage designation.
