For something completely different but house related this morning I propose a virtual visit of the Greek Villa Kérylos.  Built in the south of France the villa is based on the design of noble houses built in the 2nd century B.C. on the  Island of Delos, the Villa Kerylos invites visitors to step right back  into Ancient Greece.

I’m having a hard time getting my head around the idea of concrete countertops.  March 31 2014

Since I posted this I’ve seen a few concrete counter tops – I actually like them. Well that’s partly true. They are a bit purous and so will acquire a patina. That is something very personal. Sort of like butcher block or bamboo. Most buyers see these materials and wonder what’s living in there. To increase the value of your home nothing is safer than granite, corian, or quartz.

I stumbled on this collection of pictures from the movie “Bel Ami” earlier this week.  The photos of Madeleine Forestier’s apartment and the comparison to the real house which was the backdrop were enough to make me want to see the movie. And so last night I did!  It’s quite the vicious story – if you like the pics get the movie and watch it muted it will be beautiful and less upsetting.
