Jane Jacobs / The Author – The Activist – The Walks
Yesterday’s Google Doodle celebrated Jane Jacobs. Jacobs was an american journalist, author, and activist. Jacobs was a Canadian and American journalist, author, and activist is best known for her influence on urban studies. She worked hard at preserving neighbourhoods. In 1996 she was awarded the Order of Canada for her writings and her commentaries on urban development. You can read more about her on the CBC or Wikipedia then of course there’s Jane’s Walk with so many scheduled Saturday and Sunday.

Great video! It’s informative and it cheers me up a bit seeing the work being done and the progress. It helps with dealing with the frustration of the seemingly daily changes on the routes to and from Sandy Hill and the fear that the city will create an island from which the only way out will be a ferry.
