LRT – Conderation Line
Considering the construction woes, the road closures, and the traffc headaches its good to read this and remember what ultimately it`s all about. For those more involved you may also want to read about Five things you need to know about the new OC Transpo.
Meanwhile, it has not yet been confirmed whether the Rideau Street sink hole (the second in the area) was caused by work being done underground. It certainly has halted work being done underground. And halted the Rideau Centre, the Westin and other businesses nearby.

Doors Open Ottawa
Tomorrow June 4 and Sunday June 5 is Doors Open Ottawa. So many normally closed doors are flung open. Great fun! Last year 2 of my favourites were Earnscliffe, British High Commission’s Official Residence and the Embassy of Algeria, Fleck-Paterson House. What to see this year? For me ambassadorial residences are always fun. Or should I visit CRA headquarters: not!
Mooney’s Bay Park
Perhaps there are many things done by the city that I don’t understand. I’m truly not sure I understand this one! Mooney’s Bay Park has got to be one of our nicest parks! Not sure what the draw is to building the largest playground in the city no cross that country – and really in that park killing off several trees. There was no other area for such a playground! Nowhere!
New Pedestrian Crossings
I posted something about these new pedestrian crossings some time ago. But at the time, I think we subsequently discovered it was a bit hypothetical as there were none in Ottawa. But in less than 2 weeks we will have one and subsequent to that we will have 43 others! So read up on how to approach these, you cannot drive until the pedestrian reaches the sidewalk on the other side not just the other half of the street. It’s unknown at this point where the first one will be: whoever finds out first tells the others.
