A little fun today. This is a great colour test to see how accurately you can see colour. It`s not as easy as it seems. Dim the lights or move away from the sun`s glare (which of course is delightful) to better distinguish the subtleties.

Architect
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

In concert with the endeavour to bring more art to the social medias especially your Facebook feed I have chosen to turn the limelight towards Architects. Today’s featured architect is Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

Mies (as he was often called) was famous for bringing simplicity to the world of architecture and the expressions “Less is more” as well as “God is in the details”.

He was an American architect born in 1886 Germanny he died in 1969 in the US. The Toronto-Dominion Centre yes in Toronto to me best embodies his style that of the exposed I beam skelton. I’ve always thought Place de Ville at Kent and Albert was of his style though not from him.

I saw so much of his work in Chicago – including S.R. Crown Hall. The city he choose to call home for the second half of this life. A city whose architectural treasures are many.

And of course most architects also have a celebrated chair attached to their name and in this case we have the Barcelona chair – which also has an ottoman and a bench but the chair is the piece that reached the highest iconic status.

Low Light House Plants

At this point in the game we are in low light. And we’ve got a lot of white so we do need a bit of green. If you marry up this post with my post from last week you can find a low light plant for your bedroom and have your spirits uplifted while you are awake and sleeping.
