In honour of the ascension of King Frederick of Denmark this past week-end I thought we’d revisit the castles and palaces of Denmark
Amalienborg
Is the official reseidence of the Danish royal family.
Christiansborg Palace
Is a palace and government building. It houses the Danish Parliament and the Prime Minister’s office.
Frederiksborg Castle
Is a palatial complex in Hillerød,
Fredensborg Palace
Located near Lake Esrum in Fredensborg it is the royal family’s spring and autumn residence.
The Hermitage Hunting Lodge
Located in Dyrehaven it was built to host royal banquets during the hunts.
Frederiksberg Palace
Is a baraque style residence located in Frederiksberg.
Bernstorff Castle
Built in the 18th century and located in Gentofte it was acquired by the royal family by Christian VIII.
Charlottenlund Castle
The former summer residence of the royal family.
