Architecture/Design
2020 Academy Awards
With Oscar right around the corner may I suggest today we ready ourselves by looking at the movie sets. These sets tell us where our protagonists live as well how they live. When looking at a period piece add to that list the period in which they lived. Below, my favourite pics of the sets. And here Architectural Digest gives their point of view.
For the first time in a long while I’ve seen all of the nominated movies right down to actor, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, director, cinematography. My favouries are Two Popes, from the perspective of the dialogue between these two men. Parasite, for the surprising twists and turns. The Lighthouse, for the intensity of the movie and as a friend said the movie set itself is a character in the movie. The set for Pain and Glory is a recreation of Pedro Almodovar’s home – stuning.
For the full experience, may I introduce (should you not be familiar with them) 2 of my goto websites, IMDb (Internet Movie Data base) for everything that is cinema or television. And for those who will watch the red carpet: the RCAF – Red Carpet Fashion Awards for everything that is the art of fashion. Catherine Kallon has the best understanding of anyone as to the new trends and where they originate. When she critizes something I’m done with it. If she loves something I dismissed I scratch my head and look again. Then of course there’s the jewelery; but no one will surpass Lady Gaga wearing the Tiffany Yellow Diamond last year.

Joker was amazing. HOrrible, but amazing. Must have involved the most amazing cooperation between actor and director. But not very cuddly.
Walked out of Little Women. Toooo symplistic. Felt I was in a kids’ film.
The Irishman? Excellent acting, but what’s this interest in the Mafia?
For an intelligent, adult, enjoyable film – I loved David Copperfield!
