Architecture – Curaçao
Facades of Handelskade, Willemstad
As I’m headed to Curaçao for short break in January, I started studying the architecture, and then thought, oh it’s Tuesday make it Wednesday’s blog post. Earlier this year when contemplating a vacation in the tropics, to the sea, sun, and sand mix I wanted to add culture or architecture. Cuba of course came to mind – but traveling to Cuba is not without it’s challenges. Then Professor Google suggested Curaçao. Interesting! Willemstad, the capital, has a UNESCO designation. And so prior to my live exploration – let’s do an armchair exploration. There are 734 listed built heritage structures, 128 in Willamstad alone.
