Architects – Kazuyo Sejima & Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA
In 1997 Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa founded SANAA (Sejima and Nishizawa and Associates). Together they were the recipients of the Pritzker Prize in 2010. Sejima is known for buildings with clean lines using glass, marble, and metals. Born in 1956 in Mito, Ibaraki she studied at the Japan Women’s University. After her studies she worked with Toyo Ito. Nishizawa is a graduate of Yokohama National University. He is the youngest recipient of the Pritzker Prize. SANAA is known for its white whimsical buildings, enjoying the play of light and form.
