In this post we feature a firm not an individual. Together Elizabeth Dillier, Ricardo Scofidio, Charles Renfro and Benjamin Galmartin form Dillier Scofidio + Rentro a multidisciplinary team specializing in architecture, visual arts, and performing arts. They are based in New York City.
In chronological order let’s look at some of their designs.
Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston
The firms first structure and first in the US, as well as a first museum to be built in Boston in almost a century. Now that’s cantilevered.
2006
The David H Koch Theatre at the Lincoln Centre, New York, New York
The renovation of the theatre and the redesign of the plaza was to regig a too formal space into a more open, transparent, and inclusive period.
2008
Highline, 20th Street, New York, New York
This former railway is now a 1.45 mile long elevated park.
2009
Juilliard School, Alice Tully Hall
The goal was to transform a good concert hall into a premier chamber music venue, one with street presence.

Hirshorn Museum DC – Bubble
The bubble, meant to be an expansion for the Hirshorn Musem was nixed, but interesting concept.
2013
Berkeley Art Museum
The new building contrasts with the Art Deco building and provides space for exhibitions and screenings.

Museum of Modern Art, New York, New York
Dillier Scofidio + Renfro was selected for the expansion of the MoMa.
2017
Museum of Image and Sound, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The designers desire is that people can come of out of the ocean and stroll into the building.
