Architecture – Brockville – Part 1
In 1809 Elizabethtown was a hamlet in the township of Elizabethtown in need of a new name. In 1812 it took the name of Brockville to honour General Isaac Brock who had recently won the Battle of Detroit. That same year before the name could become official he was mortally wounded in battle.
Today my first installment featuring the architecture of Brockville. I made a road trip there this week-end. In fact enjoyed it so much Saturday that we went back on Monday. More research will be needed to properly present the styles of architecture featured there and as well as bit of history of their original owners. So for now (and seeing as only late yesterday afternoon did I realized it was Wednesday (and should have been my post day)) may I propose a general view of the street scape which is Brockville. More details to come…
