Today a style rather than an architect. This style is used in architecture as well as art, applied art particularly decorate arts: Art Nouveau.
It’s primary identifying characteristic are its curves. The hairpin curves whip-back on themselves in a very recognizable manner. Another element of design includes trees and leaves. Many Tiffany lamps are of that era! The style was popular between 1890 and 1910. Although not the most popular of styles it merits mentioning at this point principally because of the ever popular Art Deco style. A style quite present in Ottawa (I will feature it when I have a chance to get out and take some great pics once the leaves come in). So often people think if it`s not Art Deco it must be Art Nouveau, well not really, there are other styles, and we`ll get to them. Meanwhile a look at the Art Nouveau features.
